Cookie Policy
Effective Date: 2026-05-27 Last Updated: 2026-05-28
This Cookie Policy explains how Migaki at migaki.moe ("Migaki," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar storage technologies.
We aim for minimal cookie usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, third-party analytics cookies, tracking pixels, or social-media share buttons that load remote scripts.
1. What Are Cookies
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser when you visit. It allows the site to remember information about you (such as your login session) across page loads.
We also occasionally use functionally-equivalent browser storage mechanisms (e.g., localStorage) for the same minimal purposes described below.
2. Cookies We Use
We use only the following cookies:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifespan | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
session |
Strictly necessary | Authenticates your account after sign-in | 7 days | Migaki |
Cookie attributes: HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax (industry best practice for authentication cookies).
We also use the following localStorage keys (functionally equivalent to a strictly-necessary cookie, no cross-site tracking):
| Key | Purpose | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|
migaki:pending_payment |
Remembers which subscription tier you started checkout for, to restore the flow if you return from the payment processor | Cleared on next visit or 24 hours |
migaki:pending_payment_at |
Timestamp companion to the above | Cleared on next visit or 24 hours |
3. Cookies We Do Not Use
- Third-party advertising cookies
- Third-party analytics cookies
- Tracking pixels or web beacons
- Social-media share buttons that load remote scripts
- Cookies that persist across visits to other websites
- Profiling cookies that build a behavioral profile of you
4. Third Parties That May Set Cookies
When you check out, you are redirected to the Merchant of Record or checkout provider's hosted checkout page. The payment processor may set its own cookies on its own checkout page. We do not control those cookies; see the privacy notice presented at checkout or linked from your receipt.
These cookies are set on the processor's domain, not on migaki.moe.
5. Your Choices
Because our session cookie is strictly necessary for authentication, disabling it will prevent you from staying signed in. There are no advertising or analytics cookies to opt out of, because we do not set any.
You can:
- Sign out of your account at any time, which invalidates the session cookie
- Clear cookies for
migaki.moein your browser settings (this will sign you out) - Configure your browser to block all cookies (this will prevent you from signing in)
6. GDPR / EU + UK Users
Under EU/UK ePrivacy and GDPR rules, websites must obtain consent before setting non-essential cookies. Because Migaki only sets a strictly-necessary authentication cookie (and equivalent localStorage for checkout flow continuity), no consent is required for the cookies themselves. We still show a one-time banner on your first visit informing you what we use and pointing here.
You can lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe we have misused cookies. See our Privacy Policy §5 for full data-subject rights.
7. CCPA (California) Users
We do not sell or share personal information collected via cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising. There are no advertising or analytics cookies to opt out of.
8. Updates to This Policy
This policy may be updated. Material changes will be communicated by email.
